Togu Audio Line’s TAL-Vocoder is a vintage vocoder emulation with 11 bands that sounds like vocoders from the early 1980s.

The TAL-Vocoder combines analog modeling components with digital algorithms like the SFFT (Short-Time Fast Fourier Transform). Other digital vocoders may perform a direct convolution of the carrier and modulation signal, but this vocoder does not. Each of the eleven bands has its own envelope follower. This vocoder is geared for speech processing and incorporates several consonant-related techniques to improve voice intelligibility. A VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) with Pulse, Saw, Noise, and SubOsc is used as the carrier signal. However, the left stereo input can also be used as a carrier.

- Engine with 11 bands of vocoder.

- Internal synthesizer (pulse, saw, sub osc, noise, mono, poly, portamento, sync mode, tune).

- Route an external carrier signal if desired.

- Harmonic management (adds more harmonics to any carrier signal)

- Enhancer “Ess” provides a clear, intelligible speech, even on a carrier with little high frequencies.

- If the input signal is going to be clipped, the clip LED will light up.

- The Panic button disables the synth’s dangling notes.

- Different routing options are shown in the documentation.

- CPU utilization is minimal.

- Input from the side chain.

- At the moment, it only works on stereo channels!
